Job Description

MIET (Autonomous) seeks to fill faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is an integral to advancing the academic mission of the institution through excellence in teaching, research, and service. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set forth by AICTE/UGC. They are expected to contribute to the intellectual vibrancy of the School of Law, engage in innovative scholarship, and prepare students for success in the legal profession and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum Development:

  • Develop and deliver dynamic and rigorous courses in various areas of law, such as constitutional law, criminal law, contracts, torts, property, civil procedure, corporate law, and international law.
  • Design and update course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, assignments, and assessments, to reflect current legal developments and pedagogical best practices.
  • Employ innovative teaching methodologies, including case studies, moot court simulations, legal clinics, and experiential learning opportunities, to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Provide mentorship and academic advising to students, including guidance on course selection, career paths, and professional development opportunities.

Research and Scholarship:

  • Conduct original and impactful research in legal scholarship, leading to publications in top-tier law journals, book chapters, and contributions to interdisciplinary research projects.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations within the institution and across academic disciplines, contributing to the advancement of legal knowledge and addressing pressing societal challenges.

Academic Service:

  • Participate actively in departmental and school-wide committees, contributing to curriculum development, accreditation processes, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Engage in outreach activities, such as organizing symposiums, conferences, and public lectures, to promote dialogue on legal issues and foster community engagement.
  • Represent the institution in professional associations, bar associations, and legal organizations, enhancing the visibility and reputation of the School of Law.

Professional Development:

  • Stay updated of the developments in legal scholarship, jurisprudence, and legal practice through continuous learning, attendance at conferences, seminars, and workshops, and engagement with legal practitioners and scholars.
  • Maintain active membership in professional associations and bar organizations, fostering collaboration and networking opportunities with peers in academia, the legal profession, and related fields.
